Feel free to join at any time.Memorials: Greg would ask for others to hug an alligator in his memory (any reptile will do if an alligator can’t be found).Greg was born June 2, 1958 on Cherry Point Marine Airbase, NC, the son of Thomas Edward Tuck and M. Victoria (Burns) Stillwell.THE MOST prolific reader – from space to dinosaurs, minerals to architecture, history to fantasy, physics, robotics, mathematics, and all forms of flora and fauna, there isn’t a single subject he wasn’t an expert on. Astoundingly different, he was like the Crocodile Hunter meets Bill Nye the Science Guy with ambitions as simplistic as Howard Hughes. A TERRIBLY stubborn pain in the ass, but he would ALWAYS help anyone in need, everyone that is except himself. He either ignored or hid the signs and left us all surprised by dying in his sleep from a heart condition. When his children were younger, he dressed up as the Incredible Hulk complete with ripped pants and head-to-toe green paint that didn’t wash off for over a week. It seemed that if they were in trouble he would burst from the trees, two stories tall and save the day. A fantastic story-teller, he had us all convinced he was invincible. His youngest daughter writes about him: “Goodbye, Daddy. Thanks for my love of reading and the Everglades, for teaching me what plants and snakes are poisonous. Thanks letting me have my first tattoo at 14. I learned a lot more from you then I gave you credit for. You were the most unique guy that ever existed and while that embarrassed me as a kid, as an adult, I realize you gave us so much knowledge because of your refusal to conform. I hope there’s good books to read and alligators to wrestle wherever you are. While wrestling for Cypress Lake High School, Greg was described by the Fort Myers News Press in 1974 as “a 107-pound sophomore, [who] wrestles barefoot and wears a hooded sweatshirt. He looks like an elf. a broad-shouldered pixie, and his eyes peer out from the folds of the hood like a shy and comical woodland creature. When he is not on the [wrestling] mat or in school teammates say he catches snakes. Rattlesnakes and water moccasins. He walks barefoot through the swamps and catches them with a stick and bare hands.” Greg was not your average dude. Logical or not, we all thought he would outlive us. He will be remembered in every “wood that is lovely, dark, and deep”, and in every book that is as loyal as a friend.Greg has left behind a heart-broken mother, M. Victoria Stillwell of Cape Coral; children, Heather Tuck and her husband Zachary Robison of Fort Myers, FL, Moriah Tuck of Naples, FL; brother, Roger Tuck of Boynton Beach, FL; granddaughters, Macy Lane Robison and Camy Kim Robison; Nephew, Travis Tuck and Niece, Ashley Stein. The Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Greg.Condolences may be left to Greg’s family at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
