Harold G. Seer's Obituary
Harold G. Seer was born June 1, 1929 to Harold G. Seer, Sr. and Bertha Laber Seer in Mt. Vernon, NY where he graduated from A.B. Davis High School in January, 1947. After earning his BEE degree from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for two years as an instructor in Korea and working for the Underwriters Laboratories in New York City for two years, he joined the engineering staff of RCA in Camden, NJ in December 1955. Most of his years with RCA were spent with the Broadcast Systems Division where he played an important role in developing new TV cameras used by the broadcast industry and was awarded numerous patents for his inventions. Following the closing of the Broadcast Systems Division and the sellout to GE, he retired from GE/RCS in June 1999 as a Principal Member of the Engineering Staff. He was very active in the Episcopal Church. While living in Mt. Vernon, he taught Sunday School at Trinity Church. In Delaware, he served on the Vestry and taught Sunday School at St. James near Stanton. While living in Woodbury, NJ, he spent many years serving Christ Church on its Vestry, Junior and Senior Warden, and managing its Endowment Fund as its Chairman. He met Sylvia Ann Webster on April 7, 1963 while living in Delaware. Following their marriage at St. James on October 1, 1966, they moved to Gloucester County, NJ where they maintained a home until 2005. In 1995, they purchased a winter home in Ft. Myers, FL. In 2005, they moved to Shell Point and became full time Florida residents. Although they had no children of their own, they have many nieces and nephews and adopted nieces and nephews who they dearly love. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2015 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2635 S. Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901. Immediately following services, refreshments will be served at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
