Harold J. Stickney's Obituary
Harold J. Stickney, 96, of Fort Myers, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013. He was born in Lebanon, NY on September 23, 1916 to Robert J. and Eva Dibble Stickney. He has spent most of his life in Florida. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II and enjoyed shuffleboard at Jamaica Bay. He won over 91 trophies playing shuffleboard, was an avid golfer and loved boating. Mr. Stickney leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Charlotte Buskey Luther, many nieces and nephews and his longtime companion, Lavina “Lee” Ungham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret May “Peggy” Stickney in 1984 as well as his brothers: Samuel, Floyd, Robert, Leslie, Jimmy and his sister, Clara Delaney. Military graveside honors will be conducted at 12:30 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11:30 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice.
