Harold Lee West's Obituary
Harold Lee West passed away on March 7th, 2026 after battling several health issues. Harold was born November 15th, 1946 in Zanesville, Ohio. The son of Seymour West and Jean (Frame) West. Harold spent his first 18 years growing up in Senora, Ohio where his dad and friends made a ball field and he and his buddies became quite the ball team. He had a love for sports, football and baseball- he was even pretty good! He played football and baseball in high school at John Glen High School. Harold and his brother in law Dick Wilson decided to go to meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio- which Harold made a career for 60 years, starting with Pennyfare in Cambridge, Ohio. After a short retirement, he continues to cut meat at Bailey’s General Store on Sanibel Island.
Harold married Judy (Wilson) on September 4th, 1966. They were married 59 years. In 1971, Harold and Judy moved to Fort Myers, Florida with their daughter, Amy. Harold loved life, frequently answering “How are you?” With “the best day of my life.” He had a way of making friends no matter where he was or who he talked to. Harold is survived by his wife, Judith (Wilson) West, three grandchildren (Steven John, Macy Lee and Jake Zachary) as well as his son in law, Steve Mozes. Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Jo, and his parents. A celebration of life will be held at Briarcliff Baptist Church, 6211 Briarcliff Rd. Fort Myers, Florida, 33912, on Saturday, March 14th, 2026 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South Trail Fire Department or San Carlos Park Fire Department. Family sends their deepest thanks to Health Park Hospital’s wonderful nurses and doctors and Dr. Titus at wound care.
