Harrison W. Good's Obituary
Harrison W. Good, 97, passed away peacefully at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Deloris Good, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, adventure, and unwavering partnership.
Born in Irwin, Pennsylvania, Harrison was the son of the late Harrison B. Good and Gertrude Good. He grew up in the local community and graduated from area schools before answering the call to serve his country. Shortly after high school, he joined the United States Navy, where he served honorably from September 1946 to July 1949, specializing in aviation. Harrison took great pride in his military service, a defining chapter of his life that shaped his enduring love of flight.
Following his service, Harrison earned his certification in Airframe and Power Plant Mechanics and began a distinguished career with United Airlines. Through dedication and skill, he rose to the position of Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, a role from which he eventually retired.
While on leave in Tennessee, Harrison met the love of his life, Deloris. Their connection was immediate and lasting, and the two were married in 1948 during one of his visits home. Together, they embarked on a life filled with adventure, traveling the world during his Navy years and beyond. Their journeys took them to many remarkable places, including India, China, Russia, and numerous destinations within the United States. Among their favorite escapes was Hawaii, which they visited an extraordinary 48 times.
After his military service, Harrison and Deloris continued their tradition of travel while maintaining strong ties to Pennsylvania. They eventually acquired property in Naples and Fort Myers, Florida, splitting time between their northern home and their southern retreats. In retirement, they made Florida their permanent residence, settling in Estero, where they initially enjoyed life in a beachfront condominium. As the area grew and changed, they chose a quieter setting inland, embracing a more peaceful pace of life.
Harrison lived a rich and fascinating life, full of stories he delighted in sharing with family and friends. A natural storyteller, he could captivate any audience with tales of his travels and experiences. Known for his creativity and ingenuity, Harrison had a talent for assembling just about anything he could get his hands on. He remained deeply passionate about aviation throughout his life, often spending time watching aircraft take off—an activity that never failed to inspire him.
In addition to his parents and his cherished wife Deloris, Harrison was preceded in death by his children, Terry Good, Harrison Good Jr., and Gary Good.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Colleen Good, wife of his late son Gary Good; his grandchildren, Gary (Kristen) of Illinois, Joseph (Christy) of Illinois, Kelly (Rick) of Illinois, Nicole (Joel) of Tennessee, and Robin (Jim) of Florida; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Harrison also leaves behind innumerable friends he met throughout his service to our great nation and his long, storied life.
