Harry Brown Long's Obituary
On October 15, 1924, in Quakertown, PA. an amazing man was born. Always an adventurer, Harry joined the Air Force at the age of 19, amidst WWII, and became a bomber pilot flying 33 missions over Germany during the war. After an honorable discharge, Harry joined Capital Airlines as a Pilot followed by a long career with United Airlines.
Shortly before retiring, Harry met the lovely Marvis and began a long adventurous life. Always seeking new avenues, the two of them delivered yachts up and down the East Coast, as well as delivering private planes throughout the US.
They still found time to take off in their motor home for months at a time and do a little modeling for TV commercials on the side. The Kennedy Center provided many hours of dancing and long-standing friendships.
Always important was family, their friendships along the way, and their home in N. Ft. Myers. Their home was the perfect place to have family and friends over for a day on the water with their boat the “Happy Pilot” for many good times.
Hurricane Ian was a spoiler, their home unfit for living, sent them to a Condo off of Bayshore where Harry loved to swim, ride his bike, sing Frank Sinarta songs at karaoke and drive his golf cart around.
At 100 years old, the years were slowing him down. On Sept. 12, 2025, their 38th Wedding Anniversary, God called him home to be with him.
He is survived by his wife, Marvis Long, 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Terri (Richard) Fox, and (Babs) Barbara (Dan) Doan, a stepdaughter, Loraina Beza, 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, cousins Janet Nieburg, John Slechta, Ann Slechta (Bill) FitzGerald, and many other relatives. His brother, Dale, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at Cape Coral First Christian Church, 2620 Country Club Blvd. Cape Coral, FL. 33904.
