Harvey Vidussi's Obituary
Harvey Vidussi, 86, passed away September 14 at Hospice House in Fort Myers. He was born November 17, 1929 in Akron, Ohio and moved to Fort Myers in 1968.He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Harvey was a pizza shop owner, a butcher, a store manager, a concrete contractor, a stone crabber, a crew chief on a couple of offshore racing teams and a lover, grower and retailer of orchids (Marilyn’s Exotic Orchids), a true renaissance man. Always the tireless worker, the only thing he ever failed at was retirement. He loved to fish (his last being a 35 lb. bull dolphin-not Flipper, just last December), to cook (holidays will never be the same), to build (if he couldn’t buy it, he’d build it) and to drink wine (his last being the night before he passed) with family and friends. He truly loved being a member at Cypress Lake Country Club, playing golf with family and his gangsome buddies as much as four times a week but only two or three times a week after he became ill. He was a friend to virtually everyone he crossed paths with.He was preceded in death by his father Elia, mother Angela, younger sister Louise Mandala and oldest sister Delba Gajdos, who literally raised him as a child and then actually gave up her bed to him at Hospice House, having passed at the age of 96 the night before he needed it.Harvey is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, sons Dana (Denise) and Don (Stephanie), grandchildren Nicholas, Brandon, Cody and Ali (Alexandra) Vest and great-grandchild Bella. He is also survived by his sister Irene Zanandrea of Copley, Ohio and brother in law Tony Mandala of Fort Myers and many nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, Harvey, a “deplorable” conservative, would ask you to vote your conscience this November for anyone but Hillary. Finally, the family would like to sincerely thank Hope Hospice, Samira Beckwith, Dr. Krieger, RN Kathleen and all who attended to Harvey and his sister, Delba these past few weeks at Hospice House. You are all part of a wonderful organization.
