Hazel D. Bahret's Obituary
Hazel D. Bahret passed away on Thanksgiving, November 24, 2011, after a brief stay at Hope Hospice House.?áShe was 100 years old. She was born Hazel Imogene McMullen, July 20, 1911, on a farm near Clarks Corners, Ohio, a small rural community near Conneaut, Ohio.?áHer family moved to a farm near Elyria, Ohio in 1914, where she lived until she married John F Dickinson in 1936. They lived in Oberlin, Ohio until 1966, when they moved to Tice, Florida, where she remained until the present. Hazel attended a one-room school house in Elyria, where she graduated at age 16.?áShe also graduated from the Oberlin School of Business, and became a secretary for the Ohio Fuel Gas Company in Elyria, Ohio.?áAfter moving to Oberlin and starting a family, she served as a long time secretary at the First Congregational Church of Oberlin.?áAfter moving to Tice, she and her husband, John, worked several years for her nephew, Dick Harmon, at the Harmon Studios in Fort Myers.?áDuring her stay in Tice, she has been very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers. She served several years as a deacon. She contributed a great deal of her time and finances to the church, soup kitchens and Meals on Wheels. Hazel is pre-deceased by her Parents, Jesse and Edith Pember McMullen; her three brothers, Glen, Carl, and William Ellis; two Husbands- John F Dickinson and William Bahret; her daughter, Lois Ann Dickinson Marshall; and many friends.?áShe is survived by three sons ?Çô John F Dickinson II and wife Kay, William J Dickinson, and Robert A Dickinson and wife Lena; six grandsons ?Çô Steven Marshall and wife Kathy, John F Dickinson III and wife Beverly, Kevin Mulligan, Joshua Dickinson, Micah Payton, and Mark Dickinson; three granddaughters ?Çô Beth Marshall Wilgus and husband Tony, Kyrsten Dickinson Lemke and husband Thom, Jessica Dickinson Graham and husband Adam; seven great-grand children ?Çô Sarah Pritchard, Dane Pritchard and wife Britani, Megan Dickinson Vaughan and husband Jeff, Matt Marshall, Erin Marshall, Kylie Mulligan, and Sean Lemke; ?áand two great-great-grand children ?Çô Molly and Benjamin Pritchard. She will be missed for her enduring love, quick wit, sage advice, and love of life.?á A memorial service is planned for December 17th at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers.?áDonations to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers are appropriate.
