Helen Doikos' Obituary
Helen Doikos, 83 of Fort Myers, FL passed away on October 23, 2012. Born and raised in Brookline, MA, Helen graduated from Brookline High School and Chandler School for Women. She worked for an investment counseling firm in Boston for 39 years as a secretary and later became the firm’s librarian until her retirement. In 1977 she relocated to Andover, MA where she became very active in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. She served generously in many capacities for seventeen years. In 1995 she was awarded The Diocese Laity Award for outstanding Service. That same year she relocated to Ft. Myers, FL where she continued her tireless commitment to the Annunciation Church. She served as President and Secretary for the Ladies Philoptochos Society as well as heading the Oratorical Festival. While the Church was her primary passion, she also volunteered at Lee Memorial Hospital and her condo association. She was a fierce advocate and supporter of Voices for Kids. She was an avid golfer and her travels took her through Europe and Asia. Helen was a loving sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her brother, Charles Doikos and wife Rosalie of Ft. Myers. Her sister Nancy Kokinos and husband George of Andover, MA. Her nephews George and Michael Doikos of Ft. Myers, FL. Her niece Cristina Doikos of New York, NY. Nephew Steven Kokinos and wife Deborah of Arlington, MA. Her niece Alexa Kokinos of Brooklyn, NY and seven grand nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 8210 Cypress Lake Drive, Ft. Myers, FL 33919 on Saturday, October 27, 2012. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by services at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annunciation Church, Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida, 2075 West First Street, Ft. Myers, FL 33901, or a charity of your choice.
