Miss Kane was my 3rd grade teacher at Grant Wood Elementary in Cedar Rapids in 1961. I think we may have been her 1st solo class as a teacher. She was very nice to all of us and made us feel very comfortable. Not all teachers had that natural ability. My deepest sympathies to her family and close friends.
Our Deepest Sympathy to Jack, Hatt an Don. Helen was such a brave person to endure all her suffering. She was always so cheerful and pleasant to be around. She was always encuraging to me. Fellow Choir members. John and Shirley Clark
Dear Harriette, Don and Jack, My sympathy at the loss of Helen. I'm sure she leaves an empty space in your heart. I pray you'll experience her being with you while at mass or while enjoying things that she once enjoyed. I moved to Cedar Rapids in August, 2008. I didn't move as far south as you but you'd never know it this summer. We were equally as warm and humid as FL. Looked for your address but can't find it right now. Want to send you the tear sheet from the Gazette. My prayers and best wishes, Carol Nilles 254 Northpointe Dr. NE, #106 Cedar Rapids, IA 52402 [email protected]
I got my first teaching job in 1989 and taught 5th grade next door to Helen for years at Harrison Elementary. I was saddened to hear of her passing. I have to tell you the thought of her just made me grin ear to ear. I can't tell you how many times I'd walk into her classroom to find her humming, singing or dancing around the room. She was the most energetic gal and loved kids. She was a great mentor and we shared many laughs. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You know she is one of the spunkiest angels in heaven now.
We are so sorry to learn of Helen's passing. Helen sat in front of me in choir and was very welcoming as I was brand new. I loved her collection of pretty hair bows, her sweet smile, and her courage. She is in our prayers.
I danced with Helen with the Country Steppers for many years. She was a great gal and so much fun. I know she will be missed. Teresa Keister
We are leaving on a trip and regret not being with you. Be assured you are in our prayers and thoughts.
