Helen Gowans Wilcox, 85, passed away March 22, 2012.?áShe was born April 26, 1926 in Hartford, CT to the late Robert H. and Annie B. (Watson) Gowans.?áIn addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her son, Richard and her sister, Mae Howarth. She came to Lee County in 1991 from Old Saybrook, CT and was a member of the Sweet Adelines International.?áShe loved to sing with them.?á Left to cherish her memory, are her husband of 63 years, Earl; son, Douglas Gowans Wilcox and his wife Nancy of Fort Myers; daughter, Karen Borkowski and her husband Leonard of Old Saybrook, CT; cockatiel, Dusty; grandchildren, Jodi Curtiss (Stephen), Richard Wilcox, Jr. (Kristen), Heather Jacobs (Wesley) and Krista Borkowski (Andrew Danko); great-grandchildren, Parker Curtiss, Hunter Curtiss and Leah Jacobs; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service on Monday at 2:00 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
