Henry Joseph Baker's Obituary
Henry J. Baker passed away in the care of Hope Hospice on Sunday, December 27, 2020. He was 90 years old.
Henry was a proud Army veteran having served during the Korean War. After his time in the military he made a lifelong career as a steel worker. He loved to go bowling and spend his time off travelling. Originally from Southgate, Michigan, Henry and his wife Leota relocated to Fort Myers, Florida in 1986. There he could better enjoy his other hobbies of golfing and fishing. Henry was a member of the Yana Club of Fort Myers, and the Local 2659 United Steel Workers of America.
Henry leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Barbara A. Baker of Taylor, MI, John W. Baker (Linda) of Fort Myers, FL, and Jane Gagnon (James) of Taylor, MI; grandchildren Michael Vincent, Barbara J., James Henry, and Jocelyn Quinn; his great- grandchildren Madison, Jaxon Henry, Jorge Luis, Ian Michael, and Sophia Grace; a brother Eugene Baker; and daughter in law Mary Baker.
He was preceded in rest by his wife of 59 years, Leota; his son Henry M. Baker; grandson William J. Baker; and his brothers Raymond Gilewski and Joseph Baker.
A visitation will be held for the public on Thursday, December 31st, 2020 from 12:30PM to 1:30PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A service officiated by Father Tom Heck will be held at 1:30PM with the entombment to follow. We ask that you adhere to CDC guidelines for wearing a mask and social distancing.
