Henry Albert Rouse's Obituary
Henry Albert Rouse, age 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday September 26, 2023 at American House Coconut Point in Estero, FL. Hank has joined Judy, his bride of 58 years, to continue to protect and guide his family from above. Hank was a gentleman with a gentle soul. He will be missed by all those who have crossed his path.
Born in Cohoes, NY to the late Henry and Lucinda (Knipe) Rouse, Hank lived most of his life in Troy, NY and later moved to Fort Myers, FL to be closer to family. Hank proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was active in his community in many roles including serving as a volunteer fireman for the Speigletown Fire Department. Hank worked for Niagara Mohawk and National Grid in Troy, NY for more than 40 years and retired as supervisor of natural gas operations. During retirement, he volunteered as a driver at Eddy Senior Living Communities, also in Troy, NY.
Hank was preceded in death by his wife Judy, “little” brother Bobby and sister Mary (Beauregard). He is survived by his sisters Joan (Morton) in Virginia and Thomasa (husband John Palladino) in Niskayuna, NY; sister-in-law Gail Rouse in North Carolina; brother-in-law Doug Whinnery (wife Sue) in Texas; children Gregory ( daughter-in-law Julie) in Sarasota, FL, Susan “Mouse” ( son-in-law Randy Mitchelson) in Bonita Springs, FL; cherished grandchildren Alexander and Mackenzie Rouse and grand kitty Skittles Mitchelson.
The family is grateful for the years of love and care provided by Hank’s team of full time nurse aids. They loved him as their own family and always ensured Hank’s comfort and dignity even when he could no longer care for himself.
A memorial service will be Thursday October 5, 2023 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd. Visitation is 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. and celebration of life service 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. and a dinner for family and friends will follow at one of Hank’s favorite restaurants. Interment at Sarasota National Cemetery and military funeral honors ceremony will take place at a later date.
