Henry Joseph Wojtowicz's Obituary
Henry Joseph Wojtowicz Sr. of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 30, 2017 following some recent health challenges. He was 96 years old.Henry was born on April 8, 1920 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the proud son of Aniela (Krezel) and Joseph Wojtowicz. He attended Saint Hedwig’s Grammar School and Theodore Roosevelt Junior High School and was a graduate of Jefferson High School, all in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1952 from Rutgers University. Henry served 3 years in the United States Army Air Corps as Navigator and Flight Engineer with a rank of Second Lieutenant. He was the loving husband to his cherished wife of 69 years, Marian (Yoka) Wojtowicz and was the proud father of three children. Prior to retirement and relocation to Southwest Florida, Henry served as a former Police Commissioner in Elizabeth, new Jersey, was the New York City Regional Manager for Kraft Foods and was the longstanding owner and operator of his own luncheonette. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 260, Past Commander of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 91 and the Knights of Columbus Council 3310.Immediate funeral ceremonies are private. Arrangements for Henry’s final care have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
