Hershel L. Sams' Obituary
Hershel L. Sams, 85, a 24 year resident of Lehigh Acres, Florida, formerly of Cincinnati, OH passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in Fort Myers, FL. He was born October 14, 1934 in Gray, KY to the late Alfred and Mary Sams.
Hershel was a proud United States Army Veteran, serving in Korea. Prior to the Army he played football for Lynn Camp High School where he made all Conference in SEKC in 1953. He earned a full football scholarship at University of Kentucky. He was a retiree of General Motors Corporation, Norwood, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Todd Sams.
Hershel is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Roberta Valentine Sams of Lehigh Acres, FL; one son, Keith R. Sams and his wife Trish of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Stefanie, Todd and Tara; as well as one great grandson, Colby.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Monday, August 24, 2020 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery where the United States Army will be presenting Military Honors.
Anyone attending the service for Hershel Sams the funeral home and cemetery require a mask to be worn and anyone coming into the funeral home will be asked to take their temperature.
