Earline Merideth Garrett
My name is Earline Merideth Garrett. I grew up with Homer (but when he was growing up, we called him Junior because of his dad having the same name). Every holiday we spent together, three of us families—-his mother (Brewer) her sister (Salmons) and her brother (Merideth, my dad) and their mates. We spent Christmas, New Year’s and Thanksgiving together for several years while we were growing up. There was Homer, James, Glenda, Luther, George, and Charles and their parents. And then myself, my sister Mable and my brother Ken and our parents. I loved Homer even though he spent lots of time teasing me. I teased him because he was younger. I am 95 now...we had several cousins in this age group. His brother, James and I worshipped in the same church. For a long time we all belonged to the same church, all us cousins. I tried to call him today to talk and found out he has gone to Heaven. I’ve been ill for a couple of years and hadn’t talked to him. I really loved him and am so sorry I didn’t get to talk with him again. The last time I spoke to him was when I let him know his brother’s wife, Donna died. I’m so sorry to his family...I know you miss him!
