Horace E Baylor SR, 84, of Pine Island, FL, went to be with the Lord, July 6, 2017. He was born in Phillipsburg, NJ and has been a resident of Pine Island , FL. for 28 years.He was the son of Maynard, Jr and Elsie (Birutta) Baylor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Joan Ann Miller. Horace is survived by daughter JoAnn Green ( Daniel Green ) of Sparta, TN., Bud Baylor( Debbie Baylor ) of Cabot, AR. and Stephen Baylor; his step-brothers Donnie Birutta, Johnny Birutta and Larry Birutta, and his step-sister Debbie Crisman. Horace has 5 grand children and 6 great grand children.Horace was a devoted husband and father. Horace served in the US Army, 25th Infantry division during the Korean War. He received the Bronze Star for courageous actions during a ground battle with the enemy. After the Korean War, Horace was employed by West Jersey Telephone Company, Northern Dye Castle Creek Textiles and Hoffman-LaRoche Pharmaceuticals.Horace was a 141 Cub Master, BYU baseball-and little league football coach and an avid wildlife sportsman especially with his children. He loved camping with his family and traveling throughout the US with his family. Horace was active in Masons, VFW and the American Legion.After retirement, Horace and his wife moved to Pine Island, FL. They enjoyed their years golfing, boating and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.Horace was under the ministry teaching of R.B. Thieme, JR., Bible ministries Houston, TX for the past fifty years. Horace lived his life according to 2 Timothy 2:15…” Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth”.Immediate funeral arrangements are private.
