Howard Woodberry Sr's Obituary
Howard Woodberry, Sr. of Cape Coral, FL passed away May 11, 2021. He was born to Bert and Cora Woodberry on July 4, 1926 in Bessemer, AL. He had 10 siblings. He was a longtime faithful member of Broadway Community Church. For 27 years he was the superintendent of the Friendship Baptist Church. Howard was married 69 and a half years to his loving wife, Wilma B. who predeceased him in 2017. He first came to Fort Myers when he was seven months old. He graduated valedictorian from Dunbar Senior High School in 1945. He served in the United States Army PFC during WWII stationed in Germany. There he received the Victory and Occupational Medals. Howard had a successful business after graduating from Griffin Barber College in Atlanta, GA. He spent over 50 years as operational owner of Woodberry’s Barber Shop in Ft. Myers.
He is survived by three siblings; two children, Karen A. Barkley of Lithia and Howard Woodberry, Jr. (Lindell) of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren, Desiree, Kimberly, S. Chirstopher, DeAdra, Howard III and Alissa; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons Peter (1987) and Timothy (2017).
