Ida A. Douglass' Obituary
Ida Aldona (Markus) Douglass, born on September 11, 1932 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to the late Patricia Markus and Joseph Markus, passed away suddenly at age 85 on March 6, 2018 in Bonita Springs, Florida. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1951 and worked as a retail clerk and bookkeeper at Kroger Foods and A&P Foods until retiring in 1985. In 1952, Ida began a marriage of 61 years with the late James H. Douglass, who preceded her in death in 2013. Since 1985, Ida and Jim enjoyed residences in Florida and Fairfield Glade, Tennessee and became integral members of those community networks. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Douglass; daughter, Sharon Douglass; grandchildren, Janine Douglass Reisinger and Jessica Douglass; and great-grandchildren, Joshua Douglass and Ian Reisinger. Ida enjoyed travel, golf, and crafts such as pottery and stained glass. Friends around the world loved Ida for her warm and generous spirit, independent will and sense of humor. She gave inspiration to many, especially her husband, children and grandchildren, and will always be remembered for her enduring love and devotion. In lieu of donations and flowers, Ida desired that all who knew her “dance like nobody’s watching and live like it’s heaven on earth,” cherishing the love and friendship shared over the years. Friends of Ida are welcome to contact her family through Jeff Douglass at 3050 39th Ave W, Seattle, WA 98199.
