Irene A. Pelfrey's Obituary
On March 10, 2013, Irene Pelfrey (ne’e Young), a follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with the Lord. She was a long-time resident of Fort Myers for over 50 year and taught elementary school in Lee County. Irene was a gifted pianist, composer, and blessed with a large and wonderful extended family. She greatly enjoyed traveling and especially her life-long friends she met along the way. She was born and raised outside of Detroit, Michigan, and met and married her husband, Bob in 1953, two months after meeting him at a church summer camp. As much as she loved music and was sustained by composing her own music and lyrics, along with singing hymns, she was most happy spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was deeply blessed by their many and extended visits over the past few years. She would tirelessly play cards and board games with them for hours. Her love and personality of compassion and creativity will continue for us and is found in her children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 59 1/2 years, Bob; her three children, Timothy (Tim) of Fort Myers, Florida, Krystal (Kris) and Todd, both of Oak Hill, Virginia and their spouses Fred and Carole; and her five grandchildren, Rachel, Bethany, Jared, Nicholas and Joshua. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
