Irving "Ernie" H. Crerar's Obituary
Irving (Ernie) H. Crerar passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 in Fort Myers, Florida with his twin brother Ron at his side. He was 81 years old.He was born on June 5, 1933 in Auburn, New York. He attended Christ Church, graduated from Central High School and later attended Harper College all in Binghamton, New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion both in Tampa and Fort Myers, Florida. He spent his career as a sales manager in the trucking industry and owned a small engine repair business in Port Crane, New York. Ernie was good at everything he ever did and was especially skilled at billiards, golf and baseball.He leaves to cherish his loving memory his sons Scott Crerar (Judi), David Crerar and Russell Crerar (Dawn) and his daughter Lynda French (Michael); nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with one more on the way; his sister Elaine Bahn and brother Ronald Crerar. He also leaves behind his fianc?? Joyce Ellsworth who was by his side for the past several years. Sadly, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, June W. Crerar in 2004 and by his brother H. Kennard Crerar and sisters Shirley Lockett and Jean Avery.A Memorial Service will be conducted at 12 Noon on Monday, December 22, 2014 at American Legion Town and Country Memorial Post No.152, 11211 Sheldon Road, Tampa, Florida, 33626-4708, (813) 920-3282. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you instead consider a donation in Ernie’s memory to Cal’s Angels, a 501(c3) pediatric cancer foundation with the mission of granting wishes and providing financial assistance to kids fighting cancer and their families, www.calsangels.org/donateErnie was most proud to be a father and he was always smiling and laughing with his children. He cared about and touched a lot of people in life. He would talk to anyone that would listen and would certainly share his opinions. If you knew him, you’d know he was a great joke teller.
