Irwin Chernin's Obituary
Irwin “Chick” Chernin, 81 years of age passed away peacefully at home on October 14th after a lengthy battle with lung cancer, his family was by his side.He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Helen Smith Chernin, daughter Annette Tran (John) and granddaughter Kelly Tran, his grandson Mark A. Chernin (Michele) and great-granddaughter Zoe Chernin as well as his brother Harry Chernin (Mary Charles). He also is survived by his stepchildren Brenda Porter, Linda Porter, Janyce Porter Walters and Keith Porter as well as 8 granddaughters, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He also was loved by his nieces. He was pre-deceased by his son Mark Chernin and parents Benjamin and Elizabeth Chernin.He graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1946 and the University of Florida in 1950.Chick was a co-owner of The Beachcombers International along with his brother Harry. His parents founded Beachcombers in 1946.Visitation will be prior to his service at 10 am on Saturday, Oct 17th at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the services at 11 am. Donations may be made to Hope Hospice.
