Iva L. Norris' Obituary
Iva L. Norris of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 following some recent health challenges. She was 94 years old.
Iva was a 6th generation Floridian with ancestors coming to Florida before Florida was a state. Raised in Hardee County, she came to Fort Myers in 1948 where her husband Joe Norris rose through the banking ranks to became President of Security National Bank.
Iva was an active volunteer in her community being a member of First Baptist Church, St Michaels’ Lutheran Church, Women’s Community Club, Republican Women, Elizabeth Benevolent Society, Red Hat Society and others. She felt a personal calling to distribute little red Personal New Testaments throughout the community, as part of the Little Bible Ministry.
She is predeceased by husband Joe Norris, husband Will Lucas of Savannah, son Berkley Norris, twin sister Eva Lay, and parents Hubert and Pearl Howze Lanier of Hardee Co, FL
She is survived by her daughter Jo Carlson (Bill), son Lee Norris (Debbie), grandchildren, Shannon Stone (Doug) of Atlanta, Beau Carlson, Jessica Norris of NYC, Stephanie Norris, grandson Liam Stone, sister Molly Benham (Bob), and nephew Charles Edwards (Sass) and niece Martha Zehner.
A Funeral Service for Iva will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Friends are invited to gather with the family for a half-hour preceeding this ceremony beginning at 10:30 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of this service, guests will recess to adjacent Memoeial Gardens Cemetery where Iva will be laid to rest inside the Garden of Love at adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
