Izhak (Isy) Rogowski's Obituary
Izhak (Isy) Rogowski died peacefully at home on May 15, 2019 at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with cancer. Isy was born August 29, 1948 in Haifa, Israel to Holocaust survivors, Benjamin and Chasia Rogowski. Isy is survived by his loving family: wife Calla, three children Ryan (Karen), David (Jean-Michel) and Jaclyn (Ryan), four grandchildren Sharon, Amy, Max and Rennan, brother Isser (Debra), sister Ariella Linder (Moshe), many nieces and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his father Benjamin and first wife Sharon. His mother Chasia (93) preceded him in death by several hours on the same day in Haifa, Israel.Isy served in the Israel Defense Forces and the June 1967 Six-Day War in an IAF Mirage squadron. He immigrated to Canada from Israel in 1970 and became a successful real estate developer/builder in Vancouver and later in Cape Coral/Fort Myers, Florida. He had a lifelong love and passion for collecting art from around the world, was an active member of the Jewish community and gave generously to many Jewish and non-Jewish organizations.The family extends special thanks to Isser Rogowski for his unfailing love, comfort and visits to Florida in the last year of his brother’s life, Dr. Lowell Hart and Florida Cancer Specialists, Dr. Meir Daller, Dr. Michael Katin, Hope Hospice and family and friends who gave tremendous care, support and love throughout this difficult journey. Services to be held at Schara Tzedeck Cemetery, 2345 Marine Drive, New Westminster, British Columbia on May 21, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Shiva to follow.
