J. Warren Thompson, 95, passed away April 28, 2013. He was born October 26, 1917 in Cumberland, Maryland to the late Harry and Roberta (Kelly) Thompson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by first wife, Jeanne Shively Thompson who he was married for 55 years; son, Joseph Michael Thompson; and a grandson, Brian Thompson.Warren moved to Lee County in the early 80?ÇÖs from Atlanta, Georgia. After serving as a Lieutenant in the US Navy, he graduated with a bachelor?ÇÖs degree in chemistry from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He retired as the sales manager for Georgia Marble Company which provided many of the marble buildings in Atlanta and Washington D.C.Warren loved to eat out with his friends and family, listen to music and was an avid bridge player. He was also a member of Church of the Resurrection in Fort Myers.Left to cherish his memory are wife of 23 years, Joan; sons, John David Thompson and his wife Jan of Chatsworth, Georgia and James Kelly Thompson and his wife Nancy of Acworth, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Regeanna Thompson of Columbus, Georgia; brothers, James Kelly Sweeney and his wife Ann of Charlottesville, Virginia; Martin Joseph Sweeney and his wife Mildred of Cleveland, Ohio; Robert Peter Sweeney and his wife Carol of Cleveland, Ohio; Edwin McCamley Sweeney of Weston, West Virginia; sister, Sarah Ellen Sweeney of Santa Rosa, California; grandchildren, Jonathan, Timothy and Chris.There will be a memorial Mass on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Church of the Resurrection.
