Jack Mason Conneway's Obituary
Jack Mason Conneway, 87, a resident of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 30, 2023 under the wonderful care of Hope Hospice at Lee Memorial Hospital, 5 North. He was born May 31, 1935 in Hendricks, WV to the late Mason and Florence (nee Foster) Conneway.
When Jack was three years old his father was accidentally killed while working as a steel worker on the LaGuardia airport in NY. Jack & his mother continued to live in NY before they moved to Ohio. They moved to Miami when Jack was 12 years old. There his mother married his step-father John Ownby also gaining a step-brother Tom Ownby. Jack finished growing up in Miami, graduating from Coral Gables High School. He married and had two sons , making his final move in 1970 when he was transferred to Ft Myers with Goodyear Tire Company He spent most of his working career in the automotive industry in sales and management. Jack & Kathleen were married in 1981. Later years he became half owner of 5 Star Automotive. Jack is predeceased by his father & his mother Mary Florence (Foster), (Conneway), (Ownby), Diehl who lived to be 101 years old. His step-father John Ownby & step- brother Tom Ownby & Step-father Luther Diehl.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kathleen Conneway of Fort Myers, FL; sons, Jack M. Conneway, Jr. (Deborah), Timothy H. Conneway (Maria), Edward Parker (Paula) and Christopher N. Parker, Sr. (Amanda); seven grandchildren, Jared Conneway, Christopher N. Parker, Jr and Eli Parker, Cindy M. Marcum (Conrad), Jasmine Parker, Lillian Parker and Gracie Parker; three great grandchildren, Layla Clifton, Brantley Marcum and Jordyn Newberry; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM following the visitation with Pastor Juan Ramos from Tice Methodist Church as the officiant. Following the service burial will be held in the Garden of Mediation inside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
