Jack Hall's Obituary
Jack O. Hall, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Shell Point Village, Fort Myers on March 5, 2009.Jack was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI ,the son of Orval and Ferne Hall.Jack had a talent for music and enjoyed playing the saxophone and clarinet during his school years. At the age of 17, he gave instrument lessons in a music store for 50 cents per lesson.Jack served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946. He served on the SS Harding as a Sonarman, detecting submarines.Jack married Mary Lou Bartle in Swarthmore, PA in 1946. He continued his college work and graduated from SUNY Binghamton in 1949. After graduation, Jack joined IBM’s Service Bureau and was the manager in Chicago, IL, Peoria, IL, Chicago (West), IL, Omaha, NE, Philadelphia, PA, New York City and Erie, PA. He was considerate and fair to his employees.He leaves behind Mary Lou, his beloved wife of 62 years. His treasured children; Susan (Charlie) Andrade, Christianna (Jeff) Jones, Richard (Della) Hall, Jacquelyn (Dan) Mull and Jonathan (Misty) Hall. His cherished grandchildren; Dawn Williams, Katherine Miller, Matthew Hall, Gwendolyn Smith, Lucas Mull, Nathaniel Hall, Michael Mull, Jennifer Hall, Michael Hall and Zachary Hall. His precious great-grandchildren; Kyle and Hailey Williams, Nathaniel and Isaac Smith. He also leaves his sister Betty Burnett and three nephews.Jack was a gentleman and a gentle man. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the chapel of the Village Church at Shell Point at 2:15 pm.In lieu of flowers donations, in Jack’s name may be made to Hope Hospice at Shell Point, 33908.
