Jack Reece Miller's Obituary
Jack Reece Miller of Fort Myers, Florida passed away suddenly on July 18, 2014 with his loving family at his side. He was 85 years old.Jack was born on August 29, 1928 in Indiana to Herbert and Bernice Miller. He was pre-deceased by both parents and his two older twin brothers, Don and Dick. He is survived by a younger brother, Joe of Pennsylvania.Mr. Miller shared many years of happiness with his wife, Marti, the love of his life. They had two children who survive, Karen (Martin) of Florida and son Brian (Diane) of Florida. Two granddaughters, Jenni (Matt) Sherban and Stephanie (Thomas) Petty, grandson Tommy Norwood, and grandson Russell Norwood, deceased in 2009, and great granddaughters Kenley and Rose, and a great grandson Garrett.Jack and Marti moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1972 from Indianapolis, Indiana where he had been in Marketing with American Oil Company.Jack retired from teaching school in Fort Myers in 1995. He loved teaching and interaction with the students. He was always eager to help the students.After retirement, Jack was always thrilled to meet up with students in public where many of them would thank him.His one greatest passion in sports was handball in which he actively participated for forty years before hanging up his gloves for good.He was a Korean War veteran who served there honorably and proudly. He saw much combat in the Infantry Regiment.A Memorial Service in honor of Jack will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
