Jack W. ?Ç£Smiling Jack?Ç¥ Ruffner, 77, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Hospice House South in Fort Myers, Florida.?á Mr. Ruffner was born July 16, 1934 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Simon and Vera Gifford Ruffner. Jack retired in 1969 from the U.S. Navy after proudly and faithfully serving his country for 22 years.?á After his military retirement he worked for many years for the Kingstown School District in Rhode Island.?á He was a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion in Rhode Island.?á He had resided in the Fort Myers area since 1997 coming from North Kingstown, Rhode Island. ?Ç£Smiling Jack?Ç¥ was an avid golfer.?á He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jane Ruffner. He is survived by his children, Diana (Peter) Cardi of Providence, RI, Christopher Ruffner of Florida, Andrew Ruffner of North Kingstown, RI, Thomas (Jennifer) Ruffner of Hahira, GA and Kevin Ruffner of Richmond, RI;?á 10 grandchildren; his siblings Jerry (Rita) Ruffner of Latrobe, PA,?áMary (Alex) Edwards of Kittaning, PA and Betty Ruffner of Ohio.?á A Celebration of Life?á Service will be held at a later date in Rhode Island to be announced by his family.?á Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is assisting the family.
