Jacquelyn Sue Thomas' Obituary
We are sad to announce the passing of Jacquelyn Sue Thomas of Fort Myers, FL. She died at age 73 on June 22, 2023. Jackie passed away surrounded by loved ones after a battle with lung disease.
Jackie was born on October 7, in Jackson, Michigan. Daughter of parents Robert and Elizabeth ‘Jean’ Gray. She is survived by loving husband Don Miller, daughters Jennifer Lane and Rebecca Lamb, stepchildren Stacy Petromanolakis and Alex Miller, grandchildren Ellison and Ethan Lane, Mina and Mikey Petromanolakis, and Aidan Miller.
She was a graduate of Parchment High School (1967) and later went on to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Western Michigan University. She worked as an IT Computer analyst until retirement.
In 2014, Don and Jackie relocated to Fort Myers, Florida, where she lived at Sabal Springs Golf and Racket Community. She acclimated quickly to the ‘Florida’ lifestyle and soon began actively participating in the community. She co-chaired one of the activities committees which coordinated line dancing, tea parties, potlucks, etc. She helped reorganize the community library and with Don organized a dinner group to visit area restaurants.
She had a passion for giving back to the community with her time and energy and was actively involved in many charities. She spent nearly every Wednesday for years at the Community Cooperative Food Bank and Kitchen preparing food for Meals on Wheels. She was a weekly volunteer for at the Lee County Center for Girls and in her spare time would stay busy crocheting colorful caps for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments at the Regional Cancer Center. During the holiday season it was almost impossible to see the floor of her home due to all the donations she collected, which included food donations for the food bank, holiday gifts for the elderly and children in need.
Jackie will be desperately missed by all those she’s left behind. Our hearts are broken by this loss. She was truly one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In leu of flowers, Jackie would want donations sent to the Community Cooperative Food Bank.
