James E. Bishop's Obituary
James Edward Bishop passed away at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida on September 19, 2021. He was born August 1st, 1954, in Canton, Ohio. Jim graduated from Oakwood High School and studied agronomy at Lake City Community College. Those studies prepared him to enter the family business where he served as Course Superintendent at Lochmoor Country Club in North Fort Myers, FL, until its sale in 2004.
An avid fisherman, Jim could often be found on the local waters. He could grow anything, but had a particular passion for cultivating orchids. He was a family man first and foremost; a devoted son and brother, a wonderful uncle, and more than anything, a loving father and grandfather. Always caring and helpful, Jim was taken before his time, but made a tremendous impact on those around him with the time he had.
Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dale and Drusilla Bishop. He is survived by his brothers Ron and Tom (Pam), his son Anthony, daughter Shelby (Don) Donakowski and grandson, Kayden, as well as his longtime partner, Tracy Baugher.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 25th, 2021, from 6:00-8:00p.m., at El Rio Golf Club, 1801 Skyline Drive, North Fort Myers, 33903.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim can be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, Florida 33908, (239) 482-4673, or through the internet at:- Donate.HopeHCS.org
