James John Brauer's Obituary
Mr. James J.(Jim) Brauer died peacefully at his home in Fort Myers, FL on September 5, 2015 at the age of 87.Jim is survived by his wife Ruth, a brother Walter of Dallas, TX, and two children Nancy (Robert) Sizemore of Alva, FL and James R. (Jim) Brauer of Fort Myers, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.Jim was born on December 6, 1927 in Belleville, IL. He married Ruth M. Bartlett of Fairview, IL in 1950. Jim was a very talented plasterer and worked throughout the Midwest and South. After vacationing on Fort Myers Beach, the couple decided to move to Fort Myers in 1964 and he started his own plastering company, Stucco Specialties. In 1975, they fell in love with the mountains of North Carolina and bought a home near Boone, NC.. Later they became part year residents spending half the year in their beloved Valle Crucis, NC. Over the years, the entire family enjoyed spending time with them in their mountain homes.Jim was an avid reader of American history, and loved to play cards. Many a night was spent playing cards with friends and family around the kitchen table in North Carolina. He was a hard working, gentle man who loved his family very much.No funeral service has been planned at this time. In the near future, a celebration of his life will be held for family, friends and acquaintances. The family would like to thank Hope Hospice for their excellent care, and request that in lieu of flowers, please donate to this very fine organization. In addition, the family would like to thank Connie, Jim’s caregiver, for the loving care she provided for the past two years of Jim’s life.
