James Robert Burns' Obituary
James Robert Burns of Fort Myers Beach, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday, August 5, 2019 while under hospice care following some health challenges. He was 78 years old.James was born on August 19, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio, the proud son of Helen (Haas) and Walter Burns. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and as the owner and operator of Burns Equipment, a specialty supplier of components for repair of heavy machine equipment. He was the loving and devoted husband and caregiver to his wife Janet, until he could no longer.In his younger years, he loved to fish and golf. He is survived by wife, Janet Burns, loving niece, Penny Duenwald, caring and supportive special friends, Robin Graziadei and Maria Hermida, Earl Taylor and Dave Quicksal, and several nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by mother, Helen Haas Burns, father Walter Burns, sisters Gerry Burns, Betty Finnerty, Bonnie Griffin, Virginia Hoff, Joan Peitsmeyer, and Shirley Strahler; brothers Marvin Burns, Walter (Blackie) Burns, Dale Burns, and Jack Burns.In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Hope Hospice or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.Immediate funeral ceremonies are private.
