James Wesley Everett's Obituary
James Wesley Everett (Jim), 76, of Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Jackson, Michigan died at Hope Hospice on Friday, May 12, 2017 with his devoted wife at his side. He was born January 25, 1941 to Clayton and Dorothy (Skidmore) Everett. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years Shirley Everett, his son Eric Everett, grandchildren Nicole Everett and Alexa Everett, and sister Carolyn (Douglas) Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jeremy Everett.Jim had a great many interests, including his great love of the outdoors, fishing, archery spending time with his family and with his very special dog, Beau-Beau. His very special interest was music. He received his college degree in opera from Albion College in Albion, Michigan. He used his outstanding bass voice to sing at weddings, funerals, nursing homes and especially at his church (Park Alliance Church), in choir, quartets and solos. He was also known for his guitar playing and for the many harmonicas he owned and loved to play. For a time he also had lead roles in community theatres.Jim worked as a quality control manager at General Products, an automotive parts supplier for Ford Motor Company and Detroit Diesel in Jackson, Michigan. After moving to Fort Myers, he worked as an insurance salesman for American General.A Visitation for Jim will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2017 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Funeral Services for Jim will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Park Alliance Church, 7469 San Carlos Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33967, (239) 267-2353.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Jim can be made to the Debbie Osgood Scholarship at Huntington University, 2303 College Avenue, Huntington, Indiana 46750; or to Park Alliance Church, P.O. Box 1135, Estero, Florida 33928; or to Love-A-Child, P.O. Box 60063, Fort Myers, Florida 33906.Psalm 90 tells us that though our lives are like grass that withers and fades, we have an eternal home with God.
