James Edward Gleisle's Obituary
James Edward Gleisle, 86, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on March 4, 2026. He was born on March 25, 1939, in Honeoye Falls, New York, to the late Jay Earl and Edna (Chesivetsky) Gleisle.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, James lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his family. Originally from Clarence, New York, he moved to the Fort Myers area in 1986. He owned and operated Gleisle Lumber and Millwork on Fort Myers Beach, where he was well‑known for his craftsmanship and commitment to the community.
James earned his Associate’s Degree from Rochester Community College and was a member of the American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, playing golf, and traveling—especially going on cruises.
He is survived by his sons, Scott Gleisle of Fort Myers, FL, and James Gleisle and his wife Tracey, also of Fort Myers; his grandchildren, Tyler and Jimmy; and his brother, Richard Gleisle and his wife Polly of North Carolina. He is also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
James was the devoted husband of the late Patricia Ann Gleisle, with whom he shared over 39 years of marriage. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jerry and Bob.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
