James Vreeland Hampson's Obituary
James Vreeland Hampson, 84, of Fort Myers, FL died January 11, 2016 at Shellpoint in Fort Myers. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, January 15, 2016 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 4141 DeLeon St, Fort Myers, FL 33901. Inurnment will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials: Hope Hospice or Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. James was born February 22, 1931 in Passaic, NJ, the son of Elmer and Leah (Vreeland) Hampson. He was a veteran of the USAF and served during the Korean War. He married Joan Kammerer on August 15, 1953 in Nutley, NJ. James was a computer programmer for General Electric. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, and was active as a leader with the Boy Scouts of America, serving in four different states. He enjoyed fishing and sailing and especially spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Joan; children, Steven Hampson and his wife Susie of Lexington, KY, Linda Ryan and her husband Christopher of Meriden, CT, Nancy Ryan and her husband Kevin of Penfield, NY; brother, Robert S. Hampson of Ocean Grove, NJ; six grandchildren, Stu and Katie Hampson, James and Leah Ryan and Tori and Maddie Ryan.
