James William Hoenie's Obituary
James W. Hoenie, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and pillar of his community, passed away just two weeks shy of his 92nd birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and adventure. Born and raised on a farm in St. Mary's, Ohio, to parents Raymond Hoenie and Mabel J. Regadanz Hoenie, he grew into a man of strong values and a generous spirit. In 1955, he married his beloved Delores Lou Dixon, who preceded him in death in 2012. Jim's career was marked by determination and success. He began his journey at a local grocery store, rising through the ranks to become a manager. His charm and sales prowess earned him the title of top salesperson for Wayne Candies out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. When the factory closed, Jim relocated his family to Fort Myers Beach, Florida, where he thrived as a realtor with Tropical Hut Realty for many years. He also owned and managed multiple mobile home parks and a marina known as The Ship Store. Family was at the heart of everything Jim did. He is survived by his four children: Dale (Marilyn), Dana (Judy), Donald (Lisa), and Cheryl Neal (Lloyd); grandchildren Neil (Jenny), Keith, Kevin (Michele), Cody (Kaylee), Nicole (Adam), Jeffrey, Sarah LaBranche (Adam), and Rachel Harder (Andrew); and great-grandchildren Jayden, Aria, and Riley. Jim's zest for life was contagious. He loved to travel, whether camping with the family, driving across the country to California, or exploring new places as a member of the Holiday Ramblers club. His infectious smile and friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure wherever he went. He'd often remind his children to greet everyone with a smile, acknowledging that you never know what others might be going through. An avid boater, waterskier, fisherman, and certified scuba diver, Jim lived life to the fullest. His love for meeting new people and sharing stories was only matched by his love for his family. Let's celebrate Jim's life with cherished memories of his accomplishments, his infectious smile, and the countless lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hope Hospice House, in honor of Jim's memory. Rest in peace Jim.
