James L. Hoopes' Obituary
James L. Hoopes, 87, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on December 13, 2016 at home. Born on April 22, 1929 in Galesburg, Illinios to Louis and Mildred Hoopes. He graduated from both Galesburg High School and Knox College and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He also served in the Armed Forces. Before retirement he resided in the Minneapolis area working for Graco Inc., Wanner Engineering and Dayton Rogers Manufacturing in Sales Management. Jim was a loving husband to his wife Joy for 57 years, a loving father to son Jim (Nancy) and daughter Kim and his grandsons James Jr., Jeffrey, Thomas and Michael and brother Robert. He loved sports, especially football, coaching youth football, tennis and playing golf at Cypress Lake Country Club. A private burial will take place in Minnesota this coming summer.A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Cypress Lake Methodist Church, 8570 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 33919 (239) 482-1250. Friends may greet family for a half hour preceding the service. A Reception at Cypress Lake Country Club from 12:30 -2:30 PM will follow the church ceremony.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jim’s memory to Hope Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
