I well remember my classes with Mr. Ingraham. To this day I still quote him, "We don't need to worry about the Russians. It's the Chinese and drugs that are going to be our downfall." And, that was in the 1959-61 period he said that.My sympathy goes out to his family.Lynn Jenney Case class of 1961
So sorry to read in Bryant's Spring 2016 magazine of Professor Ingraham's passing. His teaching style, influenced from his Marine experiences, made him a favorite instructor. He did drive me bonkers during a blue book final exam by repeatedly looking over my shoulder during this timed test. I wrote my heart out, doing my best to ignore his distracting presence. Speak about feeling pressured! Later on, in Army boot camp, I recalled his Drill Instructor approach to teaching and learning. Oh, I got the only A on that exam…one of my very few! Im sorry to hear this. He was such a nice man. I met him 7 years ago. I work at Publix and he used to come into publix and talk to me all the time and even gave me some of his books to read. He will be missed and hope to see you in the next life time.
I was a student of Professor Ingraham at Bryant Univ back in 1962. He somehow asked me for my name and where I was from. My last name is Schatz and I was from Portland, Maine. A big smile across his face and asked me if I knew Ina Schatz and Joe Schatz. My dad and aunt lived with their parents in the same house on Qubec street on Munjoy Hill in Portland. My dad was friendly with Jim's brothers and Jim a class mate of my aunt Ina. I got real good grades in Jim's classes and brought lots of messages back home to his Portland friends. I know a lot of stories about his Portland days and sharing the two family house with my grandparents. It was interesting reading about his life time experiences and our old time connection.
