James Edison Ison's Obituary
James E Ison, 83, of Fort Myers, FL passed away in his sleep at Barrington Terrace of Fort Myers Assisted Living Facility after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He is now at peace with God.

Born and raised in Cumberland, Kentucky by Arnold & Cledia Ison with his sister Glenna. Also known as Jim or Jimmy he attended Cumberland High School and participated in sports which he loved. Football being his favorite. James also enjoyed singing and dancing. Elvis was his favorite and he was part of a group called to Bob-‘O-Links in the 1950s. After high school James became interested in the Airline industry so he attended Airline school and started working. It was there that he met his soon to be wife Theresa. In 1960 they were married and lived in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where he started his family. Three children were born: Dennis, Diane, and Deborah. From there James took a job with United Airlines and moved his family to Bakersfield, California.
He enjoyed home improvements, gardening, raising animals, hunting, fishing, boating, family trips to the beach and the mountains, classic cars, and traveling. He was also involved in community activities such as being a boy scout leader and other school functions. He continued working for United airlines until they stopped service in Bakersfield and had to move his family. James chose Fort Myers, Florida to continue his job. He worked for United Airlines for 45 years and then retired. James was a friendly, fun loving, adventure seeker, and a joy to be around. He touched many lives and will be missed. James lived a full life and is now in heaven with the angels. Let’s keep his memory alive and smile when you think of him.
James was preceded in death by his Father: Arnold Ison, Mother: Cledia Ison, Sister: Glenna Sagucio, and Son: Dennis Ison.
Survivors include: Wife of 60 years: Theresa Ison, Daughter: Diane Trippany, Daughter: Deborah Daniels, Grandson: James Daniels, Granddaughter: Melissa Carta, Grandson: Casey Ison, and Great Grandson: Casey Ison JR
