Dearest Anna and Family—-My Brother Bob and I received a call from Homer informing us that Jim had Passed ON–We were both shocked and saddened by this bad news and wish to convey our Deepest Sympathy. Jim or J.B. as many called him was a true colorful character and a man of many talents and will be missed and never forgotten ; He and all members of our Family had some truly unique times with Jim—Like the time when Jim was staying at my house–and his Brother David was in town visiting—so I decided we should all venture out to Hollywood Park to bet on the Horses at a Friday night race— and maybe get Lucky and win some money—So we all jumped in my old Volvo and drive to the Track; we go in and I purchase a Program and notice a Longshot Horse in a late race called "Jim Bobs Dream" —I show it to Jim and we both agree how can we not Bet a Horse with that name—its a Hunch but it could WIN—Sure enough it did WIN and we all made Good Money and were Happy as Hell—from that night on I started calling Jim— Jim Bob- or J.B. for short and most everyone at Sams Art Studio on Main St. started calling Jim Jim Bob or J.B.—this is truly how it all originated —and I believe Jim liked it he never complained about it—thought I should share the story—so Paint In Peace my old friend—and to you my Dearest Anna—LOVE,WARMTH, STRENGTH—Mark—P.S. on the day that Jim passed I was dusting off a painting that he had given me many moons ago and was thinking about him.
