James Earl Mackey's Obituary
James Earl Mackey, 73, of Cape Coral, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014. He was born September 7, 1941 in Newark, NJ and moved to Cape Coral from Bricktown, NJ in 1988. He was a United States Navy Veteran aboard the U.S.S. Wasp during the Cuban Missile Crisis where he served as an Electrician’s mate. Following his time in the Navy, he became a glazier and joined the Iron Workers Union in New York City. His work included the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center. He also attended St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. Mr. Mackey leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 29 years, Lynne; his children: William J. (Edna), Dolores (Luke), Denise, Frank (Ginger), Timothy (Lori), Brian (Beth), Darlene (Chris), Joseph (Tara) and Thomas (Becky); his two sisters: Delores Andreoli and Ruth Korey. Also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Parker and Gianna. He was preceded in death by his parents: William James and Helen Louise (Roberts) Mackey and his sister, Pat Aspen. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM and on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
