James Charles McGill's Obituary
James Charles McGill, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on June 8, 2025, at the age of 87 years old. Jim will be missed by his loving wife, family and friends.
Born March 9, 1938, in Fort Myers, Florida, Jim was a graduate of Fort Myers High School where he was a proud Greenie on the Green Wave Football teams. After high school, Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated cum laude from Edison College with a degree in electronics. Jim’s career included 32 years with Lee County Electric Cooperative. Jim’s marriage, to his high school sweetheart, Anne, spanned 65 happy years. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness built on a life dedicated to helping others.
Jim’s interests included first and foremost spending time with his family, church where he served as a deacon, fishing and hunting with friends and family. He loved football and his time in the USMC.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Anne Jones McGill; his son James Charles McGill, Jr (Debra) daughter Brenda Davis, and sister Betty Wryals (John). Big Pops was always proud of his grandsons, Matthew Davis, Jason McGill, Corey Davis, David McGill, and Brian McGill. He loved his great grandchildren Rylee Davis, Hanna Davis, Jackson Davis, Graeme McGill, Madelyn Davis, and Quinton McGill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Irene McGill; brother Roger McGill, sister Jo Ann Williams, grandson Joseph Lloyd McGill and great granddaughter Lorelei McGill.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation in his honor on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until Funeral Services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his dedication to family, and his strength. He will be deeply missed.
