James F. Robert Parker, 79, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Gulf Coast Hospital, with his loved ones near. Born June 9, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, he was the son of Stewart S. Parker and Betty (Reichanater) Parker. He moved to Fort Myers at a young age and proudly called it home for 71 years. A graduate of Fort Myers High School, James went on to honor his country as a veteran of the United States Army.
James devoted much of his professional life to the heating, cooling industries. He worked as a manager and estimator for Bill Smith before channeling his entrepreneurial spirit into founding J&D Heating and Air Conditioning. Through hard work, vision, and dedication, he built a successful and enduring business that continues to thrive today. He was a man deeply respected for his work ethic, generosity, and commitment to those around him.
Above all else, James was a devoted family man. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and cherished the moments they shared. Known for his selflessness and generosity, he was always willing to lend a helping hand and put others before himself. His warmth and kindness touched all who knew him.
In his leisure time, James found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, fishing, traveling, and making frequent trips to the casino—especially to Las Vegas. He also treasured time spent at his home in Murphy, North Carolina, where he found peace and relaxation in the mountains.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Diane L. Parker; his loving children, Michelle Schmidt, Kelly (Nate) Farnsworth, Kimberly (Matthew) Turner, and Jimmy (Deena) Parker, all of Fort Myers; his mother, Betty Parker of Fort Myers; his brother, Michael (Patty) Parker of Fort Myers; his cherished grandchildren, Colby, Austin, Haley, Madison, Bailey, Bryce, Matthew, Parker, Jimmy, and Nicky; and his adored great-grandchildren, Riley, Beau, Stella, Nicolas, Avery, Hudson, and Emme. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his father, Stewart Parker; and his sisters, Connie Berg and Pat Longo.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Sanibel Harbor Yacht Club, 15051 Punta Rassa Road, Fort Myers, Florida 33908.
