James J. Salzman's Obituary
James “Jim” Salzman died unexpectedly in his home on 6 October, 2020, in Fort Myers, FL, at the age of 77. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Aliceanne (Burny).
Jim was born on February 10, 1943, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Rudolph and Fern Salzman. He graduated from Georgetown University (BA), University of Chicago (MBA),and DePaul University (JD). Jim married Aliceanne in 1966 and together they raised their family in Hinsdale, Illinois. In his professional life, Jim worked as an attorney practicing corporate law at several companies, including Inland Steel and Seyfarth-Shaw before becoming co-founder and managing partner of Matkov, Salzman, Madoff & Gunn from 1983-2007. For the remainder of his legal career Jim worked as a Managing Partner at Ford & Harrison from 2007-2013 and finally as a Legal Consultant until 2016 when he ultimately retired in the Sanibel Island/Fort Myers area.
Jim is survived by his current spouse Kathleen Coughlin, his four children: Allyson (Peter) Hickey, Susan (Scott) Mortensen, Thomas (Amy) Salzman, and Christopher (Michelle) Salzman, twelve grandchildren: Madeline, Lindsey, Lily, Claire, Matthew, Colin, Emma, Mia, Alexa, Corinne, and twins Jack and Nick; his sister, Kathy (Charles) Maguire and his two nieces Amy (Kevin) Ludwig, Katy Sawyer, and grandniece Stella Ludwig.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, October 9, 2020 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 12171 Iona Road, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the Mass.
