James F. Spangler's Obituary
James F. Spangler, 88, of Fort Myers, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013. He was born June 9, 1925 in Beckley, West Virginia and moved to Fort Myers from Cleveland, OH in 1983. He was a highly decorated U.S. Army veteran and was in the landing party on Normandy. He received the Bronze Star, Silver Star and French Foreign Legion Medal of Honor as well as the Belgian Commemorative Medal. Mr. Spangler leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Margaret Spangler; his children: Jim Spangler (Karen) and Jeffrey Spangler; his half brother, Sonny Spangler and two grandchildren: Justin and Jason Spangler. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, all formerly of Beckley, WV. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 15, 2013 at Chapel By The Sea, 100 Chapel Road, Fort Myers Beach.
