James Dennis White Sr.'s Obituary
James Dennis White, Sr. of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on February 9, 2022, while receiving care from Hope Hospice following recent health challenges. He was 79 years old.
Jim was born in Wyandotte, Michigan and moved to Fort Myers in 1980. He worked in the transportation sector in both cities, where he drove and repaired semi-trailer trucks. Some would say he learned to fish before he could walk. Following his lure for fishing, he later opened his own bait and tackle shop where he built custom rods and repaired reels for ten years. Ultimately, he retired as Manager of Boaters World after fifteen years.
He is survived by his loving wife Joyce, just shy of their 25th wedding anniversary, his adored sister, Barbara White, children, Mary Jane Phifer, James Dennis White, Jr., Kim Teehan, Steven Logar, Joe Schraeder, Linda Schraeder, and grandchildren, Trevor Teehan, Josh Cates, and Savannah Phifer.
A quiet, gentle family man, Jim had several passions beyond his love for family and friends. He enjoyed cooking, entertaining, traveling, and fishing. He was an active member of Fort Myers Congregational Church where he served on the Church council for twenty years. He was a peaceful, fun-loving man, who will be missed very much by many.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Jim will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2022 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Friends are welcome to gather for Jim's ceremony beginning at 10:30 AM also inside the funeral home chapel.
