Jane Evelyn Clare's Obituary
Jane Evelyn Clare of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2020 following some recent health challenges. She was 95 years old.
Jane was born in Elkhart, Indiana on June 6, 1925, the beautiful daughter to Gertrude (Sisterhen) and Vern Wills. In 1946, she married Richard E. Clare and the couple enjoyed a beautiful marriage of 71 years before he sadly preceded her in death on December 14, 2017. Jane leaves to cherish her loving memory her 3 children, Cynthia Evans Thompson and husband Don of Littleton, CO, son John of Fort Myers, FL and his son Patrick and his wife Joni of Dunedin, FL. Jane was also the proud grandmother of seven with five great-grandchildren.
Jane and Richard moved to the city of Pembroke Pines, FL in 1972. They were both active in Lions International for over 50 years and Jane proudly stood by Richard's side and supported him when he served as a Florida District Governor in 1998-1999. Eventually, the couple moved to the Fort Myers area and Jane went to work for the Lee County Chamber of Commerce where she served as Office Manager for many years.
A Memorial Service for Jane will be celebrated by Pastor Robert S. Bledsoe of Cypress Lake United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 21, 2020 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests will be received for Visitation for an hour preceding this service beginning at 10:00 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these ceremonies, guests are welcome to travel to Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 SR 72, Sarasota, Florida 34241, (941) 922-7200 where Jane will receive Honors from Lions International at 2:00 PM before being laid to rest.
