Jane Guttridge Murphy Bone's Obituary
Jane Guttridge Murphy Bone, passed away on March 28, 2017 in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 96. Jane was born in Youngstown, Ohio to James and Bertha Guttridge. She is survived by her sister, Louise Schwartz and was predeceased by her brother Alan Guttridge Sr.Jane served proudly in the US Navy as a WAVE during WWII.She married William “Bill” G. Murphy in 1947. They settled in Roslyn, New York, where they raised their three daughters. Jane was an Insurance Broker and Co-Broker of William G. Murphy Co. She was a founding member of the New York Conservative Party and an active community leader serving on the school board and in her church. In 1975, Jane and Bill retired to Sanibel, Florida. Her husband Bill predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by her three daughters, Lesley M. Lee (James), Linden Murphy, Lisa M. Erdman (Daniel), five grandchildren, one great grandson, and her many nieces and nephews.Jane married James “Jim” W. Bone of Sanibel in 1990 and together they enjoyed a full life. In 2009, they moved to Sarasota and lived at The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods. They embraced this new community of friends. Jane was predeceased by Jim in 2011 and is survived by his daughter, Diane Foubert (David) and their family.She was a 50-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served as Regent. Jane was active in conservative politics, loved books, was a faithful parishioner and devoted friend to many. She will be remembered for her commitment to God, family and county. Jane was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.A funeral service will be held on March 31at St. Wilfred Episcopal Church in Sarasota at 1:30 pm. Jane will be buried at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens the following day.
