Janie Mae Keister's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Janie Keister, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida, at the Hope Hospice House. Janie was born December 18, 1967, in Michigan, the daughter of John Keister and Jane Whisenant. She also was stepdaughter of Jerry Davidson, who came into her life when she was 14. Janie’s life was a quiet masterpiece of love, compassion, and beauty. She was a woman who saw the world through a lens of wonder. Her passion for photography was more than a hobby. Whether it was a golden sunset, a candid smile, or the steady grace of a lighthouse against the horizon, she found meaning in the smallest details. Lighthouses held a special place in her heart. To her, they were more than landmarks, they were symbols of strength, guidance, and hope. Much like those towers of light, she was a steady presence in the lives of so many, offering comfort, and warmth during life’s storms. As a nursing aide, a medical assistant, a CNA, and most recently, working in a health spa, she was the quiet backbone of healthcare. Her work was not simply a job, but a calling she carried with grace. Long hours and difficult days never changed her dedication. She showed us all what it truly means to serve others with patience, selflessness, and love. Janie also owned her own daycare center, was a phlebotomist, worked at hospice, and also Comfort Keepers. Her legacy is not only in the care she gave in her healthcare field, and in the photographs she leaves behind, but in the countless lives she touched with her generosity, her strength, and her unwavering love. Though she is no longer with us, her light will continue to guide us like the lighthouses she cherished so dearly. Janie loved reading her Bible and having Bible studies. She loved Jesus, her Savior. She attended Next Level Church until it was too difficult for her to travel. She loved old westerns, playing games on her phone, older game shows, ncis, Chicago med/ fire, criminal minds, older country music, Charity Gayle, socializing, visiting with neighbors, going for rides in the golf cart, comedy, and beautiful sunsets. She will be profoundly missed, forever remembered, and always loved by her beloved children, Autumn Zobel, ( Chevy Burns grandson),Dakota Venney, (Mason Venney Grandson), Quentin Venney, all of Michigan. She also leave some special friends who will miss her dearly, Debbie Maughan, Nadine Roman and Dawn Chimel. A memorial service, to be officiated by Pastor Cassie Cooper, will be held Saturday, April 11, at 2pm, at Next Level Church, 3637 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida, 33916. Rest peacefully, Mom and sweet friend. Your light will never fade.
